Chief Financial Officer (CFO)
We are recruiting for our client, a fast-growing Moroccan family-owned group, a Group Chief Financial Officer (CFO). Exclusive and strictly confidential search.
About the Company
Our client is a well-established, fast-growing Moroccan family-owned group, a reference in its field, operating more than ten sites across the country with several hundred employees. The Group is entering a new phase of expansion and structuring, with a multi-year investment programme, new sites in Morocco and first openings abroad. To secure this plan, the CEO is strengthening his executive team.
Position Overview
As Chief Financial Officer, you will be based in Casablanca and report directly to the CEO, as a member of the Executive Committee. You structure and lead the entire finance function of the Group and you are the CEO's financial partner on all development matters.
This is a building role that combines hands-on financial management with the financing of growth: bringing the finance function of a multi-site, multi-entity group to the standard its ambitions require, and acting as the financial architect of the investment and international development plan.
Key Responsibilities
Lead accounting and consolidation of the Group's entities, secure a fast and reliable monthly close, manage the relationship with statutory auditors.
Design and run the performance management system: budgets, forecasts, site-level P&L and KPIs, monthly reporting to the Executive Committee and the shareholders.
Manage treasury and liquidity across entities, optimise working capital, structure and negotiate bank financing for the investment programme.
Ensure tax and legal compliance in Morocco and progressively abroad; strengthen internal control and risk management.
Build the business cases and financial models for new sites and international openings, structure their financing, set up the financial, legal and tax framework of foreign entities.
Prepare and execute possible partnerships, acquisitions or capital operations: valuation, due diligence, negotiation support, integration.
Lead the deployment of finance systems (ERP, reporting, BI) and recruit, structure and develop the finance team at Group and site level.
Qualifications & Experience
Graduate of a leading business or engineering school (French grandes écoles or equivalent top-tier international institution), or chartered accountant (expertise comptable, ACCA, CPA).
At least 12 years of experience in finance, including 5+ years as CFO, Deputy CFO or Finance Director of a multi-entity group or a significant subsidiary.
Background in a Big Four firm (audit or transaction services), investment banking or private equity is a strong asset.
International experience is essential: you have worked outside Morocco and/or personally structured and financed operations in a new country.
Demonstrated track record of building or rebuilding a finance function during rapid growth or transformation.
Sector open: industrial groups, real estate, education, healthcare or hospitality networks, financial services, diversified family groups.
Skills & Competencies
Fluency in English (oral and written) is required; fluent French; professional command of Arabic is required.
Technical depth: closing and consolidation, management control, financial modelling, financing, tax, M&A and equity transactions; ERP and reporting systems.
Entrepreneur at heart: a business partner before a controller, hands-on, taking ownership of results.
At ease in a family-owned, entrepreneurial environment where decisions are quick and personal.
Strategic thinking combined with operational pragmatism; absolute discretion, integrity and loyalty.
Location
Casablanca, full-time.
